ABOUT US
Our Story
The Holt Group’s story started in 1989 when Michael Holt a new college graduate began work for a company called the Lawrence Group the 25th largest insurance organization in the country. The moto of the company was “Here to Help” and that is what everyone did. They helped fellow team members, vendors, and especially customers. The mentors that he was so blessed to have taken the time to teach him not just the insurance business, but how to help people protect their most valuable assets, their businesses, and their teams.
Throughout the first half of his journey in the insurance industry he was also fortunate to work for COOL Insuring Agency, one of the regions premiere commercial insurance agencies. Again, he was fortunate to work with people who became mentors, and he learned another aspect of the business, which was how to grow a business through competition by earning the trust of business owners.
In 1998 Michael Holt left the insurance business to pursue building an indoor/outdoor soccer facility called the Soccer Center LLC. Unfortunately, the town where he proposed to build the project did not approve it. While the project did not become a reality from that experience, he learned what it is to be a businessowner, which changed his perspective on the insurance business.
When he returned to the insurance business in 2005, he discovered that the industry itself hadn’t changed much, but he did. And he wanted to bring that change in perspective to the insurance industry.
Over the next ten years Michael Holt took that experience and began developing “value added” services to help clients better understand the insurance business, while enabling them to make informed decisions on how to better protect their business.
What started out as “value added” services evolved into Risk Management University, which was introduced to his clients in 2018. After two years of working with clients and developing a E-Learning Platform, he formed The Holt Group LLC to bring his changed perspective to benefit companies like yours.
What changed is an appreciation and understanding of issues facing businessowners every day from financial challenges, team members, and competition to regulations. All of which require owners to surround themselves with people who care about the success of their business. This is what The Holt Group does.
The one thing that hasn’t changed over the years is Michael’s commitment to what he learned working for the Lawrence Group – “Here to Help”. The difference today is the comprehensive solutions that he created through Risk Management University to build WIN-WIN Relationships with his clients.
Today, Michael resides in Upstate New York with his wife, daughter, and their Boston Terrier – Lucky.
